It is certainly good news to hear about Representative Gabrielle Gifford, the Democratic representative from Tucson, Arizona who was shot in the head on January 8, 2011 at a political rally. She is slowly regaining her ability to speak and recently asked for a "piece of toast."  Right now, no medical doctor is sure if she will ever regain her speech back 100%; including all cognitive functions.

Ms. Gifford was recently moved from TIRR Memorial Hospital so she can start her rehabilitative therapy.  Any traumatic brain injury can take a long time to heal, and the lasting affects can last years, or even, in some severe cases, a life time.  I am trying to find out more about her condition as soon as news reports come out, and I will do my best to post some more blog updates.  I certainly wish her and her family well in her medical recovery.

What I Found Interesting About Ms. Giffords
She was born June 8, 1970 and she is only the third woman in Arizona's history to be elected to the U.S. Congress.  She is a native of Tucson, Arizona was serving her third term in the U.S. House of Representatives when the tragic shooting occurred.
