The AMA Fifth (5th) Edition (published in 2000) is the most commonly used Edition. Sixteen states currently make use of the Fifth Edition and this includes California. San Diego Personal Injury Attorney Mark C. Blane has successfully used the Fifth Edition in his personal injury cases to attain maximum settlement value for those cases that warrant such a rating.
Approximately 10 states use the Sixth (6th) Edition which was released at the end of 2007. Approximately 8 states make use of the Fourth Edition (published in 1993), and Colorado users the Third (3rd) Edition, and Connecticut does not stipulate which Edition of the AMA guide lines to use; and approximately 8 other states use their own state specific guidelines.
