CALIFORNIA MOTORCYCLE HELMET LAW: What is the law in California when it comes to motorcycle crash helmuts ? Do I really need to wear one, and why is it important?

A:

California law has become very firm and specific about helmets and motorcycles: Bottom line, you must wear a motorcycle crash helmet whenever you ride. You may not agree that the government should mandate such a thing, but you should know that if you do not wear a helmet, you could be fined. If you are in a collision and suffer a head injury, the defense will claim you are partly at fault for not protecting your head!  Also, your head is an important part of the body, you should want to make sure it is protected anyway.
