San Diego Police Authorities released the identity of the pedestrian killed Tuesday, October 19, 2010, morning in the hit-and-run crash in Rancho Penasquitos, California.  Until now, the man was unidentified:  Albert Lee Holman of Mira Mesa, California died at the scene of the accident on the exit from westbound State Route 56 to Black Mountain Road about 3 a.m. Tuesday, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office Report. Sadly, it was the day after Holman's 34th birthday, and it was not known why he was near the traffic lanes to be hit.  Interestingly, about 12 hours later, a Cal State University nursing student, who works as a waitress at a nearby T.G.I. Friday's Restaurant, surrendered in connection with the traffic accident/fatality. Ms. Nicoll Koval, age 23, went to a California Highway Patrol station in San Diego along with an attorney, and informed police officials she believed her car had hit the then-unidentified pedestrian on the connector ramp near her home.

A CHP officer did accompany Ms. Koval to her home where he found a heavily damaged 2008 Nissan Sentra.  Ms. Koval's arrest remains on hold due to the on-going investigation.  Her vehicle may have been the first of two vehicles that actually hit Mr. Holman; the make and model of the other vehicle remains unknown.  It also remains unknown as to why Ms. Koval left the scene of the auto accident.
