So, as I have said on many occasions, not every injury case from a car crash needs a lawyer - however, every injury case needs good legal counsel to help make the decision whether or not a lawyer is definitely needed. With that in mind, there are certain cases that we simply do not take as it would not be cost effective for a lawyer to be involved. Among these types of cases are the following:

1. We do not take car crash cases where the injured party did not receive much medical care. For example, if you only went to the ER one time, and followed up once or twice with your doctor after that initial ER visit, you probably will not be needing a lawyer on your case. This would be an example where you could negotiate the claim yourself with the insurance or utilize the small claims court system as a last resort, all on your own, without a lawyer.

2. We do not take car crash cases where there is low visible damage to the car. CAUTION WITH THIS ONE, as there are exceptions! Generally speaking, if you have property damage under $1,000.00 - $2,000.00, you may not need a lawyer. However, if you had a prior medical condition that was affected by the car crash, despite it being low visible damage, you will be better served to at least speak with a lawyer, as your case may be cost-effecive for lawyer involvement. Example, I had one car crash case where my client was rear-ended, but only $600.00 in rear-bumper damage, and you could barely see a scratch. Yet, my client just had back surgery two months prior, and it led to a second surgery. That is an example where the exception to this rule is trumped, and lawyer involvement is definitely needed.

3. We do not take car crash cases where there is no auto insurance involved. If you get into a car crash, your future settlement will either come from one or more of the following insurance companies:  The at-fault party(s) auto insurance, or your own auto insurance, assuming you have Uninsured Motorist (UM) coverage. If the other party(s), or you yourself have no auto insurance, then a lawyer cannot help you. You would be limited to small claims court on your own without a lawyer, depending on your damages.
