CALIFORNIA INJURED CHILD | MINOR CHILD CONTRACT RIGHTS: Can a minor child engage the legal representation of a personal injury attorney on their own?

No. Since minors can not legally enter into contracts under California law, they need to be retained either through a parent, or through a court ordered Guardian Ad Litem (GAL).  One other rare exception is if the minor child is legally emancipated from the parent(s), then special rules can apply.
